An Office With A View

The last week has been a bit of a whirlwind for me, as I have started my new position at Victoria University of Wellington as the Digital initiatives Coordinator.  This has meant large amounts of travel from the Bay down to Wellington. I am really grateful that Vic have enabled me to work from home two days of the week.

I have a nice view from the eighth floor! It is supposed to be one of the best spots to watch the fireworks on Guy Fawkes!

I haven’t anything to write about yet, but it won’t be long! My mind is already full of background information on institutional repositories, and digitization. This is going to be a challenging and interesting role. I just have to get used to all the acronyms! 😆

Three years in the small rural public library have come to an end. It has been fun working in a small time, and a close-knit community. It is certainly going to be different working in a large city university library. I think I will miss some bits, and not others, but that is how it works I think.

Now I am not sure how all this will affect my blogging, but I imagine I will have a lot more food for thought!

Bright Lights Big City

The bright lights of the big city are calling this rural librarian. 🙂

I have accepted the position of Digital Initiatives Co-ordinator for Victoria University of Wellington, starting in December. It means a few changes for me, not the least moving from a small rural Public Library to a large city university Library. It will not mean giving up my country idyll though. We have agreed to a flexible working arrangement where I work from home for two day’s of the week. I think that my new colleagues might be on the receiving end of boxes of fruit, and maybe free-range eggs.

It also may mean a change in my writing here. On the positive side, I will have a whole new scope of materials to draw upon. However, the new employer might have a view on what I blog. At present my boss and workplace are relaxed about my blogging here, but I will need to ask if Victoria has a Social Media policy for personal/professional blogging.

So all in all it is very exciting….
